Welcome to
Valley Oak Paper
Empathetic Kittens
I created these cards using Bibi Cameron’s Cheerful Kittens Die Set and leftover die cuts from recent projects. You can make two cats with this die set: one who hangs from a banner and one who sits. The head is the same for both. So if you want to make two cats, you need to cut most of the head and face parts twice.
Paradise Birthday
I’m stamping a pattern on vellum with the hexagonal stamps in the set. Stamping with white pigment ink and heat embossing in white gives a wonderfully crisp and fresh result.
Tropical Birthday
‘Things With Wings’ is the theme for my June 2024 YouTube cardmaking video hop. For this hop, my starting point was the recent Spellbinders die set Tropical Friends. It creates a parrot and a toucan.
Stitched Mother’s Day
For this card, I used the Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month for April 2024. It’s called Stitched Wall Hanging and includes an oval embroidery hoop, as well as two stitched flowers and a stitched leaf.
Color Catalog & Towering Blooms
Everything had the same intensity, so nothing was emphasized. Adding a white off-set layer to the bottom of most die cuts helped a lot.
Frosty florals
The main feature of this card is created with the Honey Bee Lovely Layers Amaryllis Die Set. It creates a lush amaryllis plant with a choice of two planters.
Happy Holiday Bears
This is a relatively simple holiday card that would be easy to mass produce in a couple of evenings.
Monochrome Stocking Full of Joy
This die set is great to use with scraps, because there are lots of small dies that combine to create characters and greenery.
Bring on the Heat Embossing
I knew I wanted hot colors for the landscape itself, but I die cut the landscape from white. Then I used Distress Oxide Inks to color them.
Pink Mother’s Day Card
This is where things went wrong. Out of sheer habit, I doubled up the die cuts. That meant that I couldn’t create an eclipse card. 🤦🏼♀️
Find out how I recovered from my mistake.
Chrysanthemum Sympathy Cards
The main focus of these cards are flowers from Pinkfresh Studio’s Chrysanthemum collection. I applied the washi tape to tan cardstock to tone down the vibrant colors.
