Spellbinders Stitchmas: Day 9 - 12
This year I’m co-hosting an Instagram hop using the Spellbinders Stitchmas Advent Calendar. We’re hopping on even days, starting on December 2nd.
A visual product link list is at the bottom of this page.
Day 9 - Mittens
The die cutting for the mittens was very simple. I just cut the two mittens with the stitching layer from Recollections Red Foil Cardstock and the cuffs from Recollections White Glitter Cardstock. The snowflake was a leftover from a previous day.
I stitched the mittens partly with red embroidery floss and partly with DMC Diamant Light Silver Metallic Floss.
Then I glued the cuffs to the mittens. I glued the right mitten to the coaster and popped up the other mitten on foam tape. Then I stitched the segments with 2 strands of DMC Diamant Gold Metallic Floss. That’s also the floss I used for the hanger. I glued the shadow layer directly to the coaster and popped up the segments with foam tape.
The sentiment is foiled in Red Glimmer Foil. The plates are from a set called Spellbinders Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments. It includes 7 holiday sentiments and is only $10 right now.
I finished the ornament with some red gems from Trinity Stamps.
Day 10 - Ornament
Super simple die cutting on this day. I cut the ornament with the stitching layer from Recollections Red Foil Cardstock and the topper from Recollections Gold Foil Cardstock.
For my stitching I used red floss and DMC Diamant Light Gold Metallic Floss.
The sentiment is again foiled in Red Glimmer Foil using Spellbinders Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments. I finished the ornament with some red gems from Trinity Stamps.
Day 11 - Wreath
Slightly more complex die cutting today. I combined the inner and outer wreath dies with the stitching die and cut it from Recollections Green Foil Cardstock. The parts of the bow I cut from Hammermill Cardstock and inked with Pinkfresh Studio inks.
I stitched the circles in alternating shades of green. Then I mounted it with some foam tape on the coaster.
The sentiment is stamped with Archival Ink in Red Geranium - a great holiday color! The stamp set is called Christmas Magic Sentiments.
Finally I added tiny gold pearls to the center of each stitched circle.
Day 12 - Cardinal
This is the most complex die set so far with 7 dies.
From Recollections Red Foil Cardstock I cut out the body without the stitching die, as well as the shoulder and tail with their stitching dies.
From Hammermill Cardstock I cut out the textured wing, feet, face, the holly and berries.
I stitched the tail and shoulder with DMC Diamant Light Gold Metallic Floss.
I inked the Hammermill parts with various Pinkfresh Studio Inks. I glued the face and wing onto the bird and popped up the stitched shoulder. Then I glued the feet and tail directly to the coaster and popped up the bird body on foam tape.
The sentiment is again foiled in Red Glimmer Foil using Spellbinders Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments. I added red gems from Trinity Stamps to the holly sprig and scattered some Pinkfresh Gold Pearls across my ornament.
That finishes up 2024 Stitchmas! This was a lot of fun. I’m definitely doing it again next year.
