I started with the main character, a little witch from a Halloween stamp set. She’s adorable with her broom and her cat and toad familiars. 😻 I stamped and heat embossed her. For the heat embossing I used a couple of different embossing powders. In the photo of the finished card, I used the color Potting Soil from Wendy Wecchi’s product line. I really like it as a less harsh alternative to black. On others I used copper or silver embossing powders.

After I had heat embossed my little witches, I watercolored them. I also watercolored paper for the sentiments, so they would match.

It’s not hard to find stamps and dies that say Blessings or Blessed. Not so for Pagan holidays. That’s why I have lots of alphabet dies, like these little alphabet banner dies. The drawback is that I have to cut out each letter individually, and some of them twice. I adhered the banner letters to green baker’s twine using Art Glitter Glue.

With the main features done, I could turn my attention to the backgrounds. My plan was to riff on the moose Valentine backgrounds I created in February. I started out by placing small bunny dies on a sturdy piece of cardstock. I ran it through my die cutting machine to create a stencil. Then I ink blended the backgrounds in pastel colors. I placed the bunny stencil over the background and used a heavier hand whil ink blending the same colors through the stencil.

I use Yoseng blending brushes. They’re just as good as the blending brushes sold by craft companies at a fraction of the price. Colored blending brushes are better than black ones, because it’s easier to remember which color you used on which brush.

With all the ingredient done, I just had to adhere them all to the white cardbases. I wanted the Ostara banner to swing freely over the top of the card, so I glued the baker’s twine to the inside of the card. Then I disguised the twine with some witchy washi tape.
