Product photos and Etsy ads

My little shop hit another milestone this week. I’ve now had over 1,000 visits. 🎉🥳🍾

Better product photography

The received wisdom in the Etsy community is that SEO improvements help visitors to find your products and good photography helps clinch the deal. To that end I changed my background and added more light. Then I retook a lot of photos. Seeing them side by side, as above, makes it clear how much better the new photos are.

I’ll continue to reshoot and update images, as well as adding video, to older listings.

Etsy ads - a losing proposition

My Etsy ads are currently losing me money. It’s not a lot of money, but apparently Etsy ads typically perform poorly. They also don’t usually give your shop a boost in the long run.

I’ve followed the advice for increasing my chances of a positive ROI, but I’m still in the red. So I’ll let my current campaign run it's course but I won’t renew it.

There are other things I can spend money on that actually help my shop. Like a remote control for my phone that will make it easier to take video and photos.

There’s still so much to learn and improve on the photography front. Like taking good photos and videos of cards with a lot of glitter and sparkle, as you can see below.
