Character Test
A recruiter who I worked with at my last job reached out about signing me up for contracting gigs. It’s always nice to find out that I made a good impression on somebody I worked with. But for now I’m going to focus 100% on Valley Oak Paper. I even updated my LinkedIn Profile to reflect that.
This week I had a lot of uninterrupted time to be productive. I love weeks like this. On the card front my working hypothesis is that people like funny cards and cards with cute characters. To test that I worked on birthday cards with watercolored fairies. I love how they turned out. In fact I kind of got carried away and made seven cards. I’ll try to post a tutorial next week.
The stamp set I used is so very pretty. It’s one of the first stamp sets I bought when I got into cardmaking. It’s from Bay Area stamp company Hero Arts. If you follow my personal account on Instagram, you may have seen that I went to their factory in Richmond back in December. I’m always keen to support Hero Arts. Not just because they’re local, but they’re also one of the few stamp companies that cater to minority religions.
In the planning stage I have birthday cards with a super cute little witch and a cat sympathy card.
On the box front I’m working on two boxes right now. One with a sun theme and one with an ocean theme. Maybe you can help me decide which typeface to use on the lid of sun-themed box? Serif or sans serif?
Today has been a day of mostly paperwork. Although I did sneak in a little gardening in the morning. It was nice to feel the sun on my back while I was cutting back a peppermint-scented geranium.
Next week is going to be super busy with four days of cardmaking classes. Tomorrow I need to check what homework I have to prepare for the classes. One of them is new to me. It’s called Card Making Success Summit. The other one is organized by Pinkfresh Studios. I’ve taken several of their classes and they’ve all been fantastic. Really looking forward to it!
