It’s no secret that I love embossing folders. In this card I used Spellbinders April Embossing Folder of the Month, Perforated Stamp Edges. Often I relegate them to the background, but here I let it play a more prominent role.
Background
I chose a piece of scrapbook paper with a blue gradient and embossed it with Perforated Stamp Edges. The stamp edges create such a great pattern that I wanted to emphasize it more. So I got out my colored pencils and colored in the debossed surfaces with a gradient from light grey to dark grey. Then I traced along some of the edges with a pencil.
Next I chose a part of the pattern I liked, and cut out a trapezoid shape. The base is 3 ¾” wide. If this composition looks familiar, it’s because it’s one of Jennifer McGuire’s go-to layouts. I stabilized it with some Accent Opaque 100 lbs and added foam tape to the back. Then I stuck it down on my card base.
Florals
The florals are all from Spellbinders Vivid Blooms Die Set. I cut the flowers from scraps in my yellow scraps folder and the greenery from green scraps. I added a bit of shading in the center of the flowers with my colored pencils. It’s possible that the flowers look familiar.
I placed the flower stalks under the embossed background.

Sentiment
For the sentiment I used the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for August 2024. It’s called Colorful Expressions Sentiments. I like the chunky font and that it has shadow dies for all the words.
The shadow layer is cut from the same cardstock as the embossed background plus Accent Opaque. I cut out the words from cardstock sprayed with Distress Mica Stain, probably in Harvest Moon. There are two layers of Accent Opaque behind them.
I glued the words and the shadows together. Then I added them to the card about ¼” above the embossed background. I had to use foam tape in a couple of spots to level them.
To finish off the card, I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the sentiment and some of the flower centers.
