Chrysanthemum Sympathy Cards

Paid Promotion for Spellbinders Paper Arts

I associate chrysanthemums with cemeteries. So it was natural to use the November Chrysanthemum BetterPress Plates in the Florals Through The Year Collection for sympathy cards.

Flower

For these two cards, I foiled the flower in copper and rose gold. Then I added some ink blending with a teal dye ink centered on the flower. I die cut the flower with the middle die from the Essential Ovals from the Essential Shapes Die & Hot Foil Bundle. The current price is $150, so it’s a bit of an investment. But it’s a staple in my craft room. It includes squares, rectangles, circles and ovals, with matching dotted Glimmer plates.

Background

Next I cut the largest oval with the eyelet inset and ink blended the edges with the same teal ink. I should have waited a little longer to take photos of these cards, because the ink blending looks a bit blotchy. Now that it’s completely dry, it’s nice and smooth.

I also dry embossed Hammermill cardstock with two favorite fall embossing folders, Sweater Weather and Falling Leaves.

Finally, I ink blended with the same teal dye ink on the card base itself, taking care to mask off the back of the card.

Sentiment

The sentiments are from the You Are Everything Sentiments BetterPress Plate. It’s one big plate and one big die that cuts out all 12 sentiments at once. I foiled them with copper and rose gold to match the flowers.

Assembly

I adhered the embossed background directly to the card base. Then I glued the larger oval to the embossed background. I mounted the flower oval on the larger oval with foam tape. Finally I added the sentiment with more foam tape.
