Paisley Motifs

Paisley is my hands-down favorite abstract pattern! So of course I needed the Glimmer Kit of the Month for June ‘22. It’s just called Paisley Glimmer and it’s on sale for less than $10 right now.

For this card I foiled the Paisley Glimmer pattern with Satin Pastel Pink foil. As you can see, I used both the positive and negative from the paisley plate. For the negative I used the good old Pinkfresh Solid Plate. It’s a must-have if you like foiling.

I wish that the Paisley Glimmer kit came with dies that cut out the whole pattern. Instead I sketched an outline about 2 mm away from the side of the pattern and then fussy cut along it. To smooth out the curves, I used an emery board.

I foiled on Hammermill. It’s fantastic for foiling but also very flimsy. So I reinforced the positive panel with some Accent Opaque 100 lbs, so I could pop it up.

Background

For my background I used a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder called Tiled Motif. It was the 3D Folder of the Month for March ‘23. Unfortunately it isn’t sold any more, but there’s a very similar 3D folder called Tile Reflection.

I misted my A2 Hammermill panel and placed it askew in the folder for more visual interest. Then I cut it down to 4” by 5 ¼” and layered some Accent Opaque behind it.

Sentiment

For my sentiment I used the You Are Everything BetterPress Plate and Die. It foils 12 milestone sentiments at once and then cuts them all out with a single die. Super easy to use! It’s on sale for 40% off right now.

I foiled all the sentiments with more Satin Pastel Pink foil and die cut them. Next I die cut some Accent Opaque and layered it behind the pretty sentiments for stability.

Assembly

I started assembling my card by cutting down the negative foiled image to match the height of my embossed background and gluing it down aligned with the left side. Then I glued them down onto my card base.

I cut down the positive foiled image to match the height of my card base and popped it up on top of the negative image. I tried to align the straight side to the middle of the first column of negative foiled paisley pattern.

Then I turned to the sentiment. I added two layers of foam behind the right side of the sentiment and adhered it to both the positive foiled image and the textured background.

Finally I added some Pinkfresh enameled dots and clear baubles to highlight the sentiment.
