Dainty Ghost

The star of this card is Trinity Stamp’s Dainty Ghost Die that’s attached with a mini action wobbler. I die cut the ghost five times from different cardstocks.

  • Whole die:

    • 1* Pattern paper - color lace with embossing pen and heat emboss with silver

    • 2 * Accent Opaque 120 lbs - cut off lace at faux stitching

  • Lower part, including lace:

    • 2 * Vellum - color lace with embossing pen and heat emboss with silver and glow-in-the dark embossing powder

I glued the first vellum piece to the back of the pattern paper slightly offset, so it looks fuller. Then I added a layer of Accent Opaque to the back for stability. Next I glued the second vellum piece offset in the other direction to the back. I finished up with the second Accent Opaque layer. The two layers of Accent Opaque provide some separation between the vellum layers. They also make the ghost super sturdy, which is important when you use an action wobbler.

Background

I dry embossed an A2 panel with the Spellbinders 2D Embossing Folder Head in the Clouds. Then I cut the panel down to 4” by 5 ¼” and matted it with another piece of pattern paper that’s 4 ⅛” by 5 ⅜”. I glued the panel to my card base.

Sentiments

Rather than one big sentiment, I went with several smaller sentiments. They’re all from Trinity Stamp Sheets and Giggles Stamp Set. I heat embossed them with silver embossing powder on vellum. Then I cut them out with the coordinating die set. I ended up cutting two of them with scissors, so I could stack the words vertically.

Assembly

I held the ghost on a finger tip to determine the center of gravity and placed the action wobbler there. Then I adhered the other side of the action wobbler to my card front.

To be able to glue the vellum sentiments down without glue showing through, I ran them through my Xyron. I scattered three of them across the card.

Happy Spooky Season was going to be my main sentiment. So I added it to a piece of watercolor paper, that I cut out with an oval die from Sizzix Tim Holtz Postale Die Set. To make it more prominent I wanted to use foam tape to adhere the oval to the card. But I wasn’t sure if my ghost would still wobble freely with a raised element near its shoulder. So I tried it and it still worked! So I was able to finish my card with the final sentiment.
