A Monster Study in Teal
The theme of this card was a Halloween Movie or Book. I chose Frankenstein’s Monster, the og horror novel by Mary Shelley. For this I used Trinity Stamps Beary Cute Mug Die Set with the Scream & Sugar Add-On. I took photos of both die sets and labeled them. See below.
I’m still trying to reclaim Halloween tropes from the overdone, traditionally-discordant colors. Halloween cards can be tasteful, really! This time I picked cardstock in teal tones from my scraps. Once you’ve figured out which dies from the Scream & Sugar Die Set belong to Frankenstein’s Monster, it’s pretty straightforward to put together.
I accidentally adhered the mouth upside down, but I kind of like it. He looks more sinister than sad this way. I glued the bolts on the back of the neck and then added a layer of Accent Opaque behind it. That gave me a sturdy mug that I could pop up on a layer of foam tape.
It’s a bit hard to see in the photos, but I embossed both the background and the monster’s skin with Sizzix Cracked Leather 3D Embossing Folder for added horror/realism.
The sentiment is just the word layer from Kat Scrappiness Spooky Happy Halloween Die Set. It’s nice and chunky with four stacked layers. The top layer is Distress Mica Stain with Glossy Accents on top. I love how shimmering it is in real life. I’ll definitely combine Glossy Accents with mica sprays again!
