I love Winnie the Pooh and the original illustrations! So I jumped at the chance of creating cards with the Classic Pooh Simple Stories and Spellbinders collab. Naturally I wanted to watercolor the illustrations. So I created a very simple card with the emphasis on the watercolor. It would be fun to use colored pencils on these motifs too.
First I inked up the larger of the two motifs with Spellbinders BetterPress ink in Black. Then I watercolored it with my artist-grade watercolor palette. I was going for a loose, but realistic look. I think that goes well with this style of drawing.
When the watercolor was dry, I die cut it with the Essential Rectangles Die Set and matted it with a pale blue cardstock. Then I popped it up with foam tape on my white card base.
Sentiment
I used the same Black ink for the Silly Old Bear Sentiment Press Plate and cut it out with the coordinating die. The main sentiment got popped up and I nestled the Silly Old Bear underneath it. That finishes the card. I just love these illustrations!
