Simon Hurley’s Space Adventure release with Spellbinders is so much fun! I created a birthday card with a UFO, two aliens and a matching sentiment. The color palette #205 is from Color Cube volume 1.
Sentiment, UFO and Aliens
I started by die cutting all the pieces I needed, according to the cut list. Then I colored the white die cuts with Ohuhu Alcohol Markers.
I glued together the UFO, aliens and sentiment. Some of them needed a layer or two of Accent Opaque 100 lbs for stability or to sit level with the surface. Notably the lavender UFO deck partly overlaps the alien pilot’s body, so it got a bit chunky.
Background
The background panel is a piece of turquoise cardstock that I’ve partially dry embossed with the Spellbinders Head in the Clouds Embossing Folder. I added the hill that the UFO has landed on with Ohuhu PB9, Cloud Blue. Then I watercolored some white in the cloud indentations. I cut the panel down to 4” by 5 ¼” and added a piece of Accent Opaque 100 lbs to the back for stability and dimension.
I glued a 4 ¼” by 5 ½” piece of pink glitter cardstock to the front of my card base. Then I glued the background panel on top.
Final Assembly
First I popped up the alien on the right on some foam tape. Next I adhered the vellum UFO hover effect. I had run it through my Xyron sticker maker first. Then I glued down the UFO on top of it. I felt that the vellum got lost against the teal background, so I added some white streaks to it.
Finally I popped up the sentiment on top of the sky.
