Festival of Lights

💡 Visual product list

I created this card for an Instagram hop on the theme Festival of Lights. It was meant to be about Hanukkah, but I decided to take the name literally this time.

Feature

First I heat embossed Kat Scrappiness Stress-mess Christmas Stamp in Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in silver on watercolor paper. Then I watercolored it with my artist grade watercolor paints.

Once the paper was dry, I cut out the motif and glued a piece of Accent Opaque 100 lbs to the back for stability. Then I added foam tape to the back of it.

Background

To create the background I placed the same stamp on the outside of the door of my Misti and stamped it over and over until it covered an A2-sized navy piece of cardstock. Then I heat embossed the impressions with Ranger Super Fine Detail in Clear.

To darken the edges I ink blended with navy and black dye inks. Then I wiped off the ink that was left on top of the clear embossing with a microfiber cloth.

Assembly

I glued the navy cardstock directly to my white A2-sized card base. Then I removed the backing from the foam tape behind the watercolored image and stuck it down near the top center of the background. I finished up the card with some sequins from Kat Scrappiness Silver City II Sequin Mix.
