Once I had selected the cardstock for this card, it came together very quickly. Except for the sentiment, the cardstock is from an old rosegold-themed paper pack. You can achieve something similar by combining Spellbinders Rosegold Assortment Treasured Cardstock and Paper Rose Rosegold Foil Lavender and Roses 6 by 6 Paper Pad.
Background
I started by gluing the rosegold, patterned Kraft cardstock to the front of my white cardbase.
Next I used the large cover plate from the May BetterPress Kit to make an impression on rosegold mirror cardstock using my Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. It’s called From A to Z.
I cut down the debossed panel to 3 ½” by 4 ¾” and lined it with Accent Opaque. Then I mounted it with foam tape to the center of my card front.
Focal Point
For my focal point I used more of my rosegold cardstock to cut out a few sprigs from the Spellbinders Vivid Blooms Die Set. See cut list below.
Sentiment
My sentiment is from my Mug of Sentiments. It was foiled with Satin Pastel Apricot Glimmer Foil using the Spellbinders You Are Everything Sentiments Press Plate on Hammermill cardstock.
Assembly
I knew that I wanted the sentiment to be in the upper third of the card. But it took a couple of tries before I had arranged the die cuts to my liking. To get the composition to work with all these similar shades, I had to cut apart the sprig with leaves and flowers. I also added a bit of pink ink to the foliage die cut.
When I was happy with the composition, I glued the two foliage die cuts directly to the mirror-finish card front. That’s always a bit nerve-wracking. This time I managed without getting glue where it shouldn’t be. Yay!
Next I popped up the sentiment on some foam tape. I finished up by adding flowers with patterned leaves.
I’m loving this clean and simple, monochromatic card with all the shine! Embossing on mirror cardstock is always a winner in my book.
