Sweet Hummingbird

↓ Visual product list

I created this card for the February 2025 Pinkfresh Challenge and for my 1,000 Followers Giveaway. The challenge theme was Transparent Treasures, so I created a shaker element. The Pinkfresh ink colors for the challenge are Sweet Mustard, Peach Fuzz, Cherry Blossom, Waterfall, and Hydrangea. All products are by Pinkfresh, unless otherwise noted.

Background

I started by stenciling the background with the Geometric Tile Layering Stencils in Peach Fuzz and Cherry Blossom. Then I added more ink to the bottom left and top right corners of the cardstock, before I cut it down to 4″ by 5 ¼”.

Decorations

I stamped the hummingbird, florals and sentiment from the Pure Joy Product Suite twice and heat embossed them with Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in Gold. Then I stenciled the motifs in the challenge colors Peach Fuzz, Cherry Blossom, Waterfall, and Hydrangea. I also added two greens, Sage and Eucalyptus.

When I was happy with the stenciling, I used the coordinating dies to cut out everything.

Shaker Element

For my shaker element I used the larger dies from the Fancy Circles Die Set. I decided to use the stenciled card panel as background for my shaker element. So I adhered the panel to an A2 notecard.

Then I used double-sided tape to adhere acetate to the back of my circle frame. I also added tall foam tape to the back, for the shaker well. Looking through my embellishments, I found a shaker mix I got as a freebie from Studio Katia many moons ago. The flower sequins are so pretty! I also added some Kat Scrappiness Glass Pearls to make sure the sequins keep moving. It was a little tricky to keep them contained on the card panel. But I got there in the end and was able to stick the shaker well to the card front.

Assembly

With the shaker element in place, I added the sentiment to the bottom. Then I draped the vines around the shaker window and placed the hummingbird with its beak pointing at the sentiment. Finally I scattered some Metallic Pearls in Gold around the card.
