Strawberry Lemonade Birthday Shaker

Shaker Element

I started this card with the shaker element. For this I die cut the largest frame from the Kat Scrappiness A2 Reverse Scallop Die Set three times. For the top layer I used a piece of Hammermill that I scribbled with a purple alcohol marker. That’s because I was following Color Cube palette 92. I found it using the keyword “summer” and I think it’s a wonderfully, fruity summer palette.

I stacked a piece of Accent Opaque behind the Hammermill for stability. Then I adhered my piece of acetate to the back with double-sided tape. More double-sided tape secured another piece of Accent Opaque cardstock behind the acetate. To create the shaker well I used 3 mm thick foam tape from Scrapbook.com. It’s my new go-to shaker foam tape, now that Trinity Stamps stopped selling skinny shaker foam tape. I just wish I were an affiliate for Scrapbook.com.

I filled my shaker well with lots of pretty bling from Kat Scrappiness:

  • Juicy Red Strawberry Sprinkles (saved some for the front)
  • Sparkling Violet Sequin Mix – Glitter Sequins
  • Classic Red Shaker Dots

I added a piece of Hammermill as a lid and then I glued it all to my card base.

Wreaths

Next I die cut the wreath from Kat Scrappiness Fall Wreath Die Set twice from green cardstock and twice from Accent Opaque. I stacked them. I ink blended on one wreath with green dye ink around the circle and the bottoms of the leaves. On the other wreath I ink blended with white pigment ink.

I cut out the berries from the Fall Wreath Die Set from yellow and orange cardstock. Then I glued the yellow berries/lemons to the saturated green wreath and the orange ones to the pale green wreath.

I cut apart the wreath with white pigment ink and glued it directly to the acetate and the frame. Then I used foam tape to adhere the green wreath in the center. The difference in color between the wreaths adds dimension.

Sentiments

I have a couple of containers with sentiments I’ve created using the Simple Sentiments – All Occasions Stamp Set and the Universal Simple Sentiments Coordinating Die. From these I selected two sentiments that are heat embossed in gold, Happy Birthday and Enjoy Your Special Day. I glued them on top of the center wreath. Finally I added some of the strawberry sprinkles I’d saved earlier.

This card turned out very colorful and fun. I just wish I had Kat Scrappiness Citrus Twist Sprinkles to add to the strawberry lemonade theme.
