Sparkle & Shine Shaker

Spellbinders Love on the Rocks is such a pretty die set! This is the second time I’m using it. This time as a shaker for an Instagram hop on the theme Sparkle & Shine.

Shaker Element

I started by cutting out the aperture for the glass from the red piece of cardstock. Then I did the same on the purple cardstock and glued the two together. The red cardstock panel is 4″ by 5 ¼”, while the purple one is exactly A2.

Next I added, double-sided tape to the back of the card front and placed a piece of acetate on it. That’s going to be the front of the shaker window. Then I added more double-sided tape to the back of the card front and adhered my foam to it. I took care not to leave any gaps in the foam, so that my shaker bits wouldn’t fall out.

My shaker bits consisted of die cut ice cubes in red and gold foil paper, as well as gold and red sequins. I also added some iridescent snowflakes, to make it more wintery and pick up the purple of the matting.

I finished the shaker element by gluing an A2-sized piece of Hammermill cardstock onto the back of it. And then I glued the shaker element onto the front of an A2 notecard.

Next stacked the Love on the Rocks glass die cuts: two from Accent Opaque, a purple, a red and a gold foil die cut on top. I glued the chonky stack into the shaker window. It fits perfectly into the aperture, because that’s the die I used to cut it out.

Sentiments

For my sentiments I used leftovers from previous projects: a negative matte-gold-foiled Season’s Greetings from Simon Hurley’s Joyful Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Set and a red-foiled “clink, sip, smile!” from Valentine Happy Hour Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set.

I added the main sentiment on two layers of foam tape below the shaker window and nestled the subsentiment in under it. Finally I added some gold flat back pearls around the sentiments.
