Peach Pattern Play

↓ Visual product list

When I got the September BetterPress Kit of the Month from Spellbinders, I immediately knew that I wanted to play with the patterns. It’s called Sketchy Hexi and includes a hexagonal die to cut out individual tiles.

Background

I started by foiling the background plate with Satin Pewter Glimmer Hot Foil and then foiling the negative from that. The cardstock I used was Hammermill 100 lbs.

I ink blended around the edges with a peach dye ink, then I cut it out with the Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month for November 2024. It’s called Cross Stitch Nested Card Front & Tag and it’s currently half price. If you search for it here on ValleyOakPaper.com, you’ll see that I’ve used it several times already. Then I “stitched” it with a silver gel pen.

I cut a second layer from Accent Opaque 100 lbs and stacked them. Next I cut more Accent Opaque, this time two pieces that fit just inside the non-stitched area. I added them to the back of my card panel.

Next I took a piece of Hammermill in A2 size and ink blended around the edges with a darker peach-orange dye ink. I glued it to the back of my card panel. Seeing the darker color through the holes in the cross stitch frame really adds to the dimension, I think.

Hexagons

Next I used the hexagonal die to cut out four tiles from the edges of the pattern on the negative piece. I reinforced them with Accent Opaque and added foam tape behind two of them. Then I glued them in their places.

Sentiment

When I foiled the background plate, I also foiled one of the sentiments from this kit. It reads “Sending autumn cheer.” I cut it out with the sentiment strips die included in the May BetterPress Kit. It was called From A to Z.

I also cut out extras and stacked them for stability. Stability was important, because I wanted to suspend the sentiment between the two popped-up hexagons.

I finished up by adding Color Essentials Gems in the colors Gold Mix and Aura AB.
