Gnome

Today I’m using the Kat Scrappiness Summer Gnomes and Kat Scrappiness Summer Gnomes Add-On Stamp Sets and Die Sets. I started by stamping the female gnome, the shells and sand castle on watercolor paper using Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee. Then I watercolored the stamped impressions with my artist grade watercolors. When I was done, I cut out everything with the coordinating die sets. While I had them out, I also cut one more set out of Accent Opaque 100 lbs and stacked them.

Infinity Shaker

I created a lush frame with the Kat Scrappiness Foliage Frame Die. First I cut it from a blue polka dot paper from the Kat Scrappiness Friends Under the Sea 6 by 6 Paper Pad. I ink blended it with dark turquoise ink for more depth. Then I cut another frame from Accent Opaque 100 lbs and stacked them.

For the background behind the frame, I selected a grey piece of paper with a bottom-of-the-sea pattern that I cut down to 4″ by 5 ¼”. Then I cut two more pieces of Accent Opaque to the same size. The first one I glued behind the grey pattern paper. Next I added strips of double-sided tape to the edges on the back of the panel.

For my shaker I used cellophane from a recent Kat Scrappiness product. I cut it to 4 ½” by 5 ¾”. Then I put it face down on my work surface. I centered the grey panel, also face down on it. Then I removed the backing paper from three sides and adhered the cellophane. This created a clear pocket with the grey pattern paper as the backing.

I added silver and turquoise sequins to the pocket. Then I closed up the open edge of the pocket, to complete the shaker. Finally I glued the remaining white piece of cardstock to the back of the shaker, to disguise the edges.

Sentiment

For my sentiment, I selected “Life’s a Beach, Enjoy the Waves” from the Summer Gnomes Add-On Stamp Set. I heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in Silver on watercolor paper. Then I cut it out with a sentiment strip die. I also cut out another sentiment strip from Accent Opaque and stacked it behind the watercolor sentiment.

Assembly

I started by centering the shaker on the front of my card base. Then I added double-sided tape behind the solid parts of the frame and adhered it to the shaker window. I didn’t use glue, because it would take time to set up on the slippery cellophane.

I added the sentiment strip by gluing it to the leaves and added shells and the sand castle to decorate it. Then I adhered the beverage-sipping gnome to the center above the sentiment with foam tape. Finally I added aqua rhinestones among the foliage for a lush, full look.

I wish I were a little gnome, sipping my drink and enjoying the glittering waves on a warm, sandy beach!
