For this card I used both the Spellbinders BetterPress of the Month and the Embossing Folder of the Month for December 2025.
Background
I started with the red background. For this I inked up the flat side of the Sweet Stems Embossing Folder with Pinkfresh Studio Berrylicious ink. Then I added some tape runner to the back of a piece of red cardstock and ran it through my Platinum 6 die cutting machine.
My cardstock piece was big enough that I could turn it sideways and still cover the front of an A2 note card. So that’s what I did. I like the tone-on-tone of the red ink on the red cardstock. It just gives the texture a little bit more definition.
Heart
I used the heart press plate from the I’d Pick You BetterPress Kit with white Glimmer foil on another piece of cardstock. Then I foiled the negative with my Pinkfresh Solid Hot Foil Plate.
To cut out the heart, I traced around the press plate on a white piece of cardstock. Then I cut out the center with scissors, taking care to keep the shape as simple as possible. I tested it on my motif and wrote “front” on the front of the frame template.
Then I carefully placed the template over my heart and traced a line with pencil around it. I cut it out with my big Spellbinders 9″ shears, being very careful not to damage the foil surface. I did the same with another piece of red cardstock, except I cut a few millimeters inside the line all around the heart shape. Then I glued it to the back of my foiled heart for stability. I also added foam tape to this heart panel.

Sentiment
The December BetterPress Kit of the Month includes a plate with 4 sentiments and the coordinating die. They’re all about love and can be used independently from the heart. Very useful!
Just as with the heart press plate, I glimmered the sentiments with white hot foil. Then I foiled the negative on red cardstock.
First I cut out the sentiments with the coordinating die. Then I cut out unfoiled red cardstock to use as layering pieces.
Assembly
I popped up the sentiment and heart on foam tape and scattered some Opal Color Essentials Gems around the sentiment and on the heart.
