I got my Glimmer hot foil system just before the holidays and now I’m in love. 🥰 So of course I subscribed to Spellbinders’ Glimmer of the Month Club. Getting a new toy to play with every month is just so much fun!
For this card I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month for December 2023, My Heart Smiles and Spellbinders Pewter Glimmer Hot Foil. My proof-of-concept card I glimmered with Satin Foil in Pastel Peach.
My card panel was Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover 100 lbs, which I later stabilized with some Accent Opaque 100 lbs.

Cutting Foil
I created simple templates out of white cardstock to make it easier to cut the foil without marring it. Based on a recommendation by Simon Hurley, I used an Olfa 28 mm rotary cutter to cut the foil.
Over Foiling
To avoid over foiling, I need to heat up the system without the plates on top. That was the most important thing I learned from today’s card.
I was able to remove most of the over foiling with my sand eraser, but not quite all of it. That’s why I added the drop shadow.

Watercoloring
I used my Distress Watercolor Pencils for watercoloring. Here are the colors I used:
- Leaves: Twisted Citron shaded with Rustic Wilderness and Peeled Paint shaded with Peacock Feathers
- Large Flowers: Candied Apple for the petals and Fossilized Amber for the centers
- Small Flowers: Salty Ocean
- Drop Shadow: Faded Jeans shaded with Prize Ribbon and Black Soot
Embellishments
I added some iridescent black pearls to the centers of some blue flower and some matte silver pearls too.
