A Stitch in Time

The Spellbinders Hello Stitching Die Set was the Small Die of the Month for May 2022. It’s currently on clearance for only $8. You can find all available Spellbinders stitching dies here.

I’m not normally one for vertical writing, but I love the stitched texture of this die. It’s also great for stitching on the go. So I have a small collection of already-stitched die cuts in a drawer. The monthly Procraftinator Instagram Hop was an opportunity to turn them into cards.

Die Cut Panels

The stitched panels are from Recollections 110 lbs Ballerina cardstock. I cut another panel of the same color as the stitched one and glued it to the back. I had already secured all the threads with tape on the back. With all the bulk from the threads and tape on the back, this is a good time to use lots of magnets to get good adhesion.

Then I added foam tape to the back of the panels.

Hello

I cut at least 2-3 layers of Accent Opaque 100 lbs for stacking the letters. These are the cardstocks I used for the decorative layer:

For the two lighter panels, I just added the decorative layer on top of the stacked white die cuts. On the two darker panels, I colored the white die cuts with a black marker and offset the foiled cardstock. That’s why it looks as if the sentiment has a shadow.

Backgrounds

My backgrounds use the same materials as the letters for a cohesive look.

Subsentiments

Three of the subsentiments are from the Spellbinders All You Need Sentiments Glimmer Set. It was the Glimmer Kit of the Month for November ‘23. I foiled them with Satin Pastel Pink Glimmer Foil.

The Galentine’s sentiment is from another Spellbinders Glimmer Kit. This one was for December ‘23. It’s foiled with Satin Pastel Peach Glimmer Foil.

Not that I actually bring out my Glimmer system and foil subsentiments when I need them. Instead I like to spend an afternoon every now and then and foil lots of sentiments. Then I keep them in a jar on my desk. This way of doing subsentiments has helped me actually incorporate them into my cards much more often than before.

Embellishments

I added tiny flat back pearls to the centers of the flowers. Here are the pearls I used:
